Brendan Arrives in Cambodia

We were happy to speed through Southern Laos with 15 hour bus rides to make it to Siem Reap, Cambodia in time to mark our 100th day of traveling, but mostly to meet our friend Brendan. He’s taking a whirlwind two-week tour from Washington, DC through Siem Reap, Cambodia, Hanoi, Vietnam and Tokyo, Japan.

We were thrilled he chose to join us for four days of his travels to explore the awesome Angkor Wat. We surprised him by meeting him at the airport along with our tuk tuk driver for the next few days and an artfully designed welcome sign.

This isn’t the first time Brendan has paired exploring a far flung place where I randomly happen to be… In 2005, Brendan visited the former Soviet hinterlands of Azerbaijan and Georgia when I was posted in Baku, Azerbaijan. A grand time that also included my sister, Mum and Step-Father.

That Brendan is a good friend and visits from friends make for more fun times. And we love those.
